The United States has paused its naval escort mission in the Strait of Hormuz, raising new questions about the future of the Iran war. President Donald Trump said the move aims to create space for a possible deal with Iran. But tensions remain high, and the global impact is already clear.

 

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important oil routes. Around 20% of global oil supply normally passes through it. Any disruption quickly affects energy prices and economies worldwide.

 

Why Did the US Pause “Project Freedom”?

The US launched “Project Freedom” to guide ships safely through the Strait after Iran closed it. Now, Trump says the mission will pause to allow negotiations with Tehran.

 

At the same time, the US is not stepping back completely. Officials confirmed that a naval blockade of Iranian ports will continue. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said offensive operations are over, but forces will respond if attacked.
