Naval Drones and Joint War Exercises Boost Philippines' Regional Security Strategy

The Philippine Navy is moving fast to upgrade its defense strategy by getting new autonomous drone ships and by participating major international military drills. These changes come at a time of rising tension between Manila and Beijing in the South China Sea, indicating that the Philippines is trying to strengthen both its military reach and disaster response systems.

 

Autonomous Drone Ships Transform Maritime Defense

The Navy has teamed up with Cebu Technological University to build two cutting-edge systems: a Hybrid Marine Air Vehicle and a Maritime Autonomous Surface Ship.

 

The Hybrid Marine Air Vehicle is a boat-like drone that can carry up to 12 passengers and travel long distances, making it useful for emergency rescues and the fast delivery of soldiers across islands.
