The reports first surfaced on February 26, 2026, on the social media platform X. Cybersecurity observers reported that a threat actor using the alias “Ashborn” was offering databases allegedly linked to several Malaysian government agencies.
The claim has raised fresh concerns about the security of government systems at a time when cyber threats are rising across Southeast Asia.
