Indonesia has signed a major new trade deal with the United States, cutting tariffs and strengthening business ties in a move that could reshape global trade flows.
Under the agreement, US tariffs on Indonesian goods will drop from 32% to 19%. In return, Indonesia will remove tariffs on 99% of American products.
The deal could make everyday goods cheaper and easier to trade between the two countries, while strengthening economic ties at a time when global supply chains are under pressure.
President Prabowo Subianto announced the agreement during a visit to Washington. Business leaders also signed 11 deals worth $38.4 billion, including major purchases of US soybeans, corn, cotton, and wheat, as well as cooperation on critical minerals and technology.
